This exploratory course introduces visual arts as a foundation for further study. Students use a range of materials, techniques, and styles while learning the elements and principles of design, the creative process, the critical analysis process, and the personal, contemporary, and historical contexts of art.

Students develop musical literacy through performance, composition, listening, reflection, and analysis while learning the elements of music, safe practices, and how music connects to culture and daily life.

This course refines media arts skills through a thematic body of work using traditional and emerging tools such as multimedia, computer animation, installation, and performance-based media. Students create portfolio-ready work, respond to contemporary issues, and critically analyze how media artists influence views of identity, culture, and community values.

This course helps students refine the creative process as they create and present two- and three-dimensional artworks using traditional and emerging media. Students analyze artworks, explore relationships between art and society, and develop studio work connected to personal, contemporary, historical, and cultural contexts.
